Ion-Specific Analytical Guides
Detailed measurement methods, electrode specifications, calibration procedures, and interference data for all 15 ions measurable with ELIT ion-selective electrodes.
Cations
Positively charged ionsThe ELIT ammonium electrode measures NH₄⁺ ions directly in aqueous solution without the need for alkaline pre-treatment. Suitable for water quality monitoring, environmental analysis, aquaculture, and agricultural applications.
The ELIT calcium electrode provides reliable divalent cation determination across a wide range of matrices, from drinking water to food products and soil extracts.
The ELIT cupric electrode provides excellent sensitivity for copper determination down to ppb levels. It is widely used in environmental monitoring, electroplating effluents, and water quality analysis.
The ELIT lead electrode is designed for direct lead determination in environmental and industrial water samples. Stirring during measurement enhances sensitivity at low concentrations.
The ELIT barium electrode requires a unique still-solution measurement protocol and Standard Addition for samples with high ionic strength, due to interference from common ISAB constituents.
The ELIT cadmium electrode is designed for direct cadmium determination in environmental and industrial water samples, with important limitations on co-present heavy metals.
The ELIT mercury electrode requires highly acidic conditions (pH 0–2) for operation, making strict ISAB addition mandatory for all measurements. Critical for environmental contamination monitoring.
Anions
Negatively charged ionsThe ELIT fluoride electrode uses a mono-crystalline membrane for highly selective fluoride detection. The TISAB buffer is critical for this electrode, equalising ionic strength and releasing complexed fluoride.
The ELIT nitrate ISE offers a wide pH operating range and excellent sensitivity for routine nitrate determination in water, soil, and plant materials.
The ELIT chloride electrode uses a poly-crystalline AgCl/AgS membrane for direct chloride determination across a very wide pH range. Widely used in food, water, and industrial applications.
The ELIT bromide electrode offers wide pH tolerance and low detection limits for bromide determination in water and industrial samples.
The ELIT cyanide electrode requires strict pH control (11–13) due to the toxic HCN gas liberated at lower pH. Essential for monitoring industrial effluents, mining waste, and electroplating rinse waters.
The ELIT iodide electrode provides wide-range, high-sensitivity iodide determination. Its extremely high selectivity for I over Cl makes it ideal for complex matrices.
The ELIT nitrite electrode requires careful attention to oxidation and temperature. The special citrate/phosphate ISAB is essential for maintaining pH and measurement accuracy.
The ELIT perchlorate electrode operates over a very wide pH range and offers excellent selectivity over common anions such as chloride and sulphate. Used in water monitoring and industrial analysis.
