Electrode Signal Amplifiers

Amplify mV signals from Ion-selective, ORP and pH electrodes to allow longer cable runs to data acquisition systems, PLCs, displays, process controllers and data loggers.

System Overview
Wiring diagram: electrodes → amplifier → data logger

Typical installation: electrodes → amplifier → data logger

ELIT signal amplifiers buffer and amplify the high-impedance mV output from pH, ORP and ion-selective electrodes, enabling reliable transmission over cable runs of up to 50 metres to data acquisition systems, PLCs and instruments.

Three models are available: a compact battery-powered single-channel unit for field use, and two laboratory 4-channel units — with or without galvanic isolation between channels.

Mounting4 × 5 mm drill holes, 115 × 42 mm pattern
EnclosureABS, IP52 (NEMA 2/3)
Net Weight165 g (with batteries)
Input ConnectorBNC (50 Ω)
Output ConnectorBNC (50 Ω)
Reference Socket2 mm
Power2 × CR2032 Li-Mn, ~3-year life
Input Impedance1 TΩ typical
Input Bias Current0.1 pA typical
Transfer (Jp1 OPEN)1:1 — unity gain
Transfer (Jp1 CLOSED)1:5 — ±400 mV → ±2000 mV
Load Resistance≥ 250 kΩ
Gain is selected via jumper Jp1: leave open for 1:1 (unity), close for 1:5 (5× amplification, ±400 mV in → ±2000 mV out). Suitable for field or portable use — no mains power required.

LAB-EA4-C

ParameterValue
Channels4 × BNC inputs
Output Connector25-way sub-D
Transfer±1500 mV in → ±3000 mV out (1:2 gain)
EnclosureABS, 190 × 135 × 40 mm, IP60
Power12 V DC stabilised, 300 mA
IsolationNone — common ground all 4 channels
BNC CasingsAll connected to common ground
Non-isolated: All inputs, outputs and BNC casings share a common ground. Use only when: (a) all electrodes are in a single vessel with one reference, or (b) electrodes are in separate vessels with no electrical connection between solutions. If ground loops are a concern, use the LAB-EA4-CI.

Isolated channel architecture

ParameterValue
Channels4 × fully galvanically isolated
DimensionsSame as LAB-EA4-C
Transfer±1500 mV in → ±3000 mV out (1:2 gain)
Power12 V DC stabilised
IsolationGalvanic — each channel has its own GND
Ground LoopsEliminated
Fully isolated: Each channel ground is independent, eliminating ground loops. For best results, configure your data acquisition system in "Differential Input" or "Isolated Inputs" mode. Suitable for 4 electrodes in 4 separate vessels, or 4 electrodes in a single vessel.
