Operating Instructions
Preparation
- Remove cap. Rinse electrode with distilled water. Keep cap upright for later wet storage. Refill cap with pH 4 buffer:4M KCl (1:1).
- Condition by soaking for 20 min in: 4.0M KCl, or pH 4 buffer, or pH 7 buffer.
- Rinse with distilled water, then connect to instrument.
Maintenance
- Rinse with distilled water before and after each sample.
- After use, store electrode wet — cap on — in storage solution.
- Never let the glass bulb dry out.
- If response is sluggish, clean with dilute HCl (0.1M).
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Action |
|---|---|
| Slow response | Re-condition electrode |
| Low slope | Check glass bulb for damage |
| Unstable reading | Check connections; allow temperature equilibration |
